Crafty Counselor At Your Service

Today’s episode of “The Crafty Counselor” differs greatly from yesterday.  Today I had a visit with a customer about fleece off the bolt versus fleece remnant prices and before I knew it she was telling me everyone in her family suffers from arthritis.  I told her I had it too and about then I slipped in a comment about my toe as it gave me a little jab.  Apparently about 3 or 4 months ago I dropped something on my big toe that caused the nail to turn black and today 3/4’s of the old nail was ready to be removed.  The new nail isn’t fully formed yet so my toe decided to complain just a bit once it realized it had been stuffed in a sock and then a shoe without it’s protective cover.  All of a sudden the counselor role I typically play shifted and the lady I was visiting with came to my aide.  She reached in her pocket and whipped out a tube of dollar store brand toothache jell and said, “Here, take your shoe off and slap some of this on that toe.  Your pain will be a thing of the past.”  I tactfully refused but thanked her for her suggestion.  She said “Well you’ll have to remember this idea for another time.  It’s not just for teeth and gums ya know, it takes away any pain, any time.”  I’m glad our thoughts aren’t visible as I had a brief moment when I envisioned rubbing this remedy on some of the people that tend to make my life miserable.  They can be a real pain….a different kind but it still might be worth a try!

After the dollar store brand Orajel offering, the woman remembered I said I had arthritis and continued with her quest to give me comfort from my every affliction.  She told me about something she was wearing but in order for me to see it, she would have to drop her pants.  Can you honestly believe things like this happen at a fabric store?  I was relieved when she confirmed that the pants were staying where they were but proceeded to have a rather heated argument with her phone until it brought up an image of the battery pack and four wires that her company makes to help alleviate pain.  It looked rather interesting but I had to cut our session short as there were other people backed up awaiting their session with “The Crafty Counselor.”  They had no idea what they were in for should they mention any issues they have been experiencing with pain.  I was ready. I had answers!
